Welcome Back for 2009 – Padbury club

posted by atapadbury in Padbury

Hello and Happy New Year to all our valued members for 2009. We hope you’ve all had a very relaxing and enjoyable festive season. No doubt, like Hubert and me, you are keen to get back to training in order to put some of your seasonal calorie acquisition to good use.

Classes start on Thursday 29th Jan at 6.30pm. Training this year will continue on Mondays and Thursdays at the usual time of 6.30pm – 8.00pm. Extended training is now on offer this year with every 1st & 3rd Thursday for the month running to 8.30pm for RED belts and to 9.00pm for BLACK belts. This will give us more time with you to help refine your poomsae and improve your self defence skills. Ask Hubert for more information when you return to training.

Hope to see you all there.

Hubert & Brian

Merrily Christmas and Happily New Year poem

Christmas is as much about opening our hearts
As it is searching ourselves, our feelings, our thoughts

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to be put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is as good as you do for yourself

..  as for always ..  as for the memories ..

Remember the good old times we spent together
charyeot, kyeong-nye, joon-bi, si-jak, kal-yeo, key-sok, geu-man
moving like lightning, some of us with twinkle toes and gliding across the mat
A wriggle here and a wriggle there, 1-step, 2-step, three
In yellow or in blue, it is still with the same lively glow

Oh, those long waits, sitting and waiting for the sudden action-reaction
waiting, waiting, waiting, it seems like eternity and time is ticking on
first it was Chung, then it was Hong with those explosive kicks
landing on the face and on the body or just hitting clean air
Ka-pow, ka-bam, ka-boom or just do it like the Nike swoosh
Yes it is a point .. No it isn’t  a point .. thinking, thinking

Decisions, decisions, decisions we have to make
As one we all collectively confirm spontaneously within that finite split second
The crowd cheers, they scream, they boo, the players they jump for joy
Such excitement, such emotions, and a joy to watch and experience
Yes, such is the art, the skill, the timing, the satisfaction
and most of all the feelings, the thrill, and the adrenalin charge
Alas ..  Alas.   Our art, our skills, this aspect of our duties are to be put away
Replaced by electronic senses that has no heart, no feelings, no emotions, no adrenalin charge

Remember the good old days, comrade, maestro and friend
In the best spirit of our sport, our art, our skills
Treasure them skills for they would be fond memories in time to come
Perhaps we may find solace in those games they play on the Wii

Anyhow ..

Have a MERRILY CHRISTMAS
And a HAPPILY NEW YEAR

Congratulations to Kennedy – Silver Medal – State Championships June 7th 2008.

posted by atapadbury in Padbury, Sparring Competitions

4kg overweight and a week out from the tournament Kennedy knew he would need to work hard to shed some weight. On the morning of the weigh-in and after stripping for the weigh-in there was still some work to do. An hour later and minus his necklace and ear ring……Bingo! Kennedy made it by the skin of his teeth.

At 15years of age and fighting in the under 18 division, Kennedy has done Padbury proud by winning Silver. Fighting a more experienced opponent for the Gold, Kennedy had to keep his head together and work hard. At the end of the 3rd round and with a 4 – 0 result, Kennedy smiled and said he has gained from this experience.

Padbury Taekwondo Club congratulates Kennedy Blowfield on his success.
