Match play sparring comp – Peel region

A match play sparring competition will be held on the last training day of the 2010 school term:

At the Mandurah High School gym

On Thursday 16th December 2010

From: 5:30 pm for all junior school aged members

From: 7:00 pm for all senior school aged and adult aged members

The format will be short 30 second match bouts with paired players that each player may choose to pair with.  It will be match play sparring with body trunk protectors being used and other competition protective guards for the arm, shin, in-step, mouth, groin and head guards.  We will use electronic scoring systems and each player can have a go on the hand held electronic scoring units.  It will be a fun night.  The concept is to have a go with match play sparring in a fun environment to end the school term.  Everybody should have a go at either the match play sparring or the electronic scoring systems.

ATA team contests the 2010 Australian Nationals in Canberra

The ATA members fly out to Canberra for the 2010 Australian Taekwondo Nationals and Open being held at the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport)  from 21st to 24th October 2010.  The 12 ATA-WA players are part of the 100 strong contingent of Taekwondo WA state team who will contest several events at the Nationals.

2010 SWTA Invitational Tournament

South West Taekwondo Academy is holding their inaugural Mr. Shin Boo Kim Memorial Championships; this Sunday September 12, 2010 at the Bunbury PCYC.

A Memorial Trophy will be awarded to an exceptional athlete of the championship who excels at both poomsae and sparring. This trophy has been named after Mr. Kim to remind us of his passion and joy for both these sporting disciplines.

Date: Sunday 12th September 2010

Venue: PCYC, Parade Road, Bunbury 6230

Weigh-in:

• 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm Saturday 11th September 2010
• 8:00 am – 9:00 am Sunday 12th September 2010

Poomsae: Sunday 12th September 2010 9:00 am to 11:00 am

Sparring: Sunday 12th September 2010 11:00 am start to finish approx’ 5:00 pm Lunch: 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm

Spectator’s entry fee: Adults $10 Children $5 (under 15) Family $25

All players and their clubs are to supply their own protective head, chest, groin, arm, shin and mouth guards. It is optional for players to wear hand and foot protectors. All players to have nails cropped and no jewellery or attachments are allowed during competition.

Time start from 10 am to 12 noon (may finish earlier at 11:30 am).  Cost per training session is $8.

Taekwondo WA State championships – August 2010, Perth

Taekwondo Western Australia Inc is hosting the 2010 WA State & Selections Taekwondo championships on Saturday 7^th and Sunday 8^th August 2010 at the Kwinana Recreation and Leisure Centre (Kwinana Recquatic).  This invitation is extended to all TWA registered Head Instructors, their member clubs and members to participate in this annual event and come together to meet in friendly tournament competition.  These championships will select the players (1^st, 2^nd or 3^rd placing) for the Taekwondo Australia Nationals being held in Canberra, ACT from 21^st to 24^th October 2010.

The state tournament is expecting up to 300 competitors for sparring & poomsae (patterns) competitions.  The application entry forms for sparring and poomsae competitions are enclosed.  All entry fees must be included with the entry forms.  Please make certain that all necessary details and signatures are completed, in particular the sports insurance declaration and verification.

Saturday 7th August:  State Poomsae Championship

Sunday 8th August:  State Sparring Championship

Hand in your completed forms to your club instructors.
