No Training for Rockingham and Coolbellup for Nationals weekend

posted by Roy Khoh in Coolbellup, Rockingham

Just a reminder that there will be no training from Wednesday until the end of this week. Training will recommence next week on Monday September 8 as per normal.

This applies to my classes at Rockingham and Coolbellup. I’m not sure how the Nationals will affect the other clubs.

From the clubs I teach at, Elanie and Aneldi Schoeman will be travelling to Sydney for the Nationals also. They are entered in both the technical poomsae and kyorugi divisions. I am also entering the poomsae portion and refereeing the other two days.

Due to my ‘role’ there, photos and stories may come a bit late online. Also, the photos may not be plentiful either, unless someone else takes over the role of ‘photographer’ since Richard Huynh will also by busy officiating.

We’ll do our best, in Taekwondo and in documentation.

South West Bunbury Invitational Tournament a Challenge

The Club level invitational organised by the South West Taekwondo Academy ended up being a bit of a challenge for the ATA members who competed there. You can view the results here. The competition was held over two days at the Bunbury PCYC on Saturday August 2 and Sunday August 3.

Being a good tournament to get our Nationals players ready and prepped, it turned out to be a bit on the small side. As it sometimes is with club invitationals, there may not be enough players to fill up certain categories. As it turned out, there were some entries that had no divisions, so they did not journey down south to Bunbury for the tournament. Being 4 weeks away from the Nationals in Sydney – this was a well timed tournament so that players can gain more insight to improve and have enough time for recovery from injury.

The Technical Poomsae Judging Course held on Sunday July 20, 2008 at the Kwinana Recquatic Centre was presented by Mr Shin Boo Kim (8th Dan from the South West Taekwondo Academy). He is the current head of the WA State Technical Committee and the Australian National assistant Coach for the Australian Poomsae National Team in 2006 and 2007.  It was an honour to be instructed by him and to be refreshed on the judging criteria for poomsae competitions.
