Everybody wins at 2008 WA State Taekwondo Poomsae Championships

ATA showcases 2008 WA State TKD Poomsae ChampinshipsAll ATA members who entered the Western Australian State Taekwondo Poomsae Championships came home with something, a trophy and/or a medal.

The beauty of it is, that All of us (individuals) had competitors to go up against to measure our standard amongst others in the state. For those who didn’t win a first place trophy, they had earnt their well deserved placing by beating other individuals. Congratulations to all who had entered and braved the competition to earn their glamour.

The only entrant from our ATA group who had no competitors was the Ahmad-Nizas in the family poomsae. It was Munirah’s first tournament event and nerves had won over for her individual event, so she did not compete in that event. With the help from family and friends, she gained the courage to continue on and perform with her brother, Muhammad, for the Blue Belt Family Poomsae. Well done!

Even without fellow competition, there is always yourself to beat. Remember your score, and attempt to improve for next time. If the judging criteria is the same, it is a fair way to follow your progress.

The results are viewable in the "Tournament Results" area of this website.

I am planning to put up videos of the poomsaes online. I will wait until I can gather up videos from other sources to compile it – into either a montage/collage of them all, or individually. Like previously – I will only display full poomsaes for those who performed it correctly. Any major mistakes in the poomsae will result in it not being displayed. Let me know if you would prefer to have a short 2 minute mix of all our poomsaes or if you would like your own fully displayed. You will need to login and post your comment here.

Congratulations to all who went today, and good luck for those of you entering in tomorrow’s sparring.

We are a dark little group! Heavy eye shadows and all.

I guess one of us should really bring a digital still camera along to the tournaments. I was really counting on Richard Huynh to take great photos, but apparently he’s overseas.

I’ve also figured out how to use and activate the still camera facility (and flash) on my video camera. So maybe next time, it’d turn out better.

If anyone has any better photos of our group as shown above, please submit it in the forum in the tournament poomsae section. Thanks!

Just a note that Elanie Schoeman and Aneldi Schoeman were missing from the photo. They were the first to receive their trophies and so left before the rest of us got together for the photo.

Also missing from the photo are Liam Fossey, Stephanie Fossey and Alex Cicchini from the Morley branch. Apologies for not noting your absence earlier.
