Kerstin Oberprieler from the ACT provided her view on the weekend. She attended the seminar but was unable to take part in the sessions due to illness. Below is her report view.

Melbourne saw an influx of Black Belts on the weekend as several members from each state flew in to meet for a Poomsae seminar given by Master Kang. The seminar consisted of two full days of poomsae; coloured belt patterns on the first day and Black Belt patterns on the second. Master Kang also taught about the history of Poomsae and its direction in the near future.

The seminar’s purpose was to gather key members from each state to ensure standardization of Poomsae across Australia. It was great to see so many head instructors interested in helping to raise the technical standard and consistency.
A wonderful mix of people attended from the various states including referees, coaches, players and head instructors, all eager to learn and do their part in furthering Poomsae in Australia.

By all accounts the weekend was a great success, with everyone having learnt more about the technical, competition and teaching aspects of Poomsae. Master Kang’s energy, passion and enthusiasm was contagious and we are fortunate to have him share his vast knowledge and experience with us.

Having all of Australia under Master Kang’s direction gives a powerful feeling of unity – Poomsae has a very exciting future indeed!
