This is an excellent video clip for anybody who wants a quick lesson on taekwondo sparring rules or just to view what an international match looks like. The visual actions demonstrates real life examples for scoring, the competition environment and essentially all the rules, safety and protective guards and requirements for a sparring match. All the matches are taken from the World championships and major international competitions of the last few years.
This clip shows the rules for international black belt competitions, and in Australia there are some modified rules for the juniors of u8, u10, u12 and u14 year age groups where head kicks (the 2 points) are not included. The other minor amendments in Australia are the time durations for each round, the number of rounds and in some cases the possibility of using 3 corner judges instead of 4 corner judges.
Excellent viewing, and learning. This clip is also used for the official referee courses run in WA and recommended for use across Australia referee courses.
